"i can honest ly say that my year completing tourism reception & event management was both the most challenging and fulfilling i have encountered. I left school many years ago and although i have studied various subjects over the years, this was my first time back in formal education. All i can say is, the help i received from my fellow students was incredible. start My tutors encouraged and guided me constantly, they believed i was capable even when i didn’t. Whenever i had a problem with an assignment or in understanding something, they made time to help me.

What is Event Management?

The event management degree provided me with the experience, tools and knowledge to further my career in event management. The work placement opportunities incorporated throughout the 4 years were invaluable and allowed me to gain a great sense of the different aspects of the event industry. In all areas of business, there are some terms you’re never truly sure you know the definition of. However, when it comes to event management, the definition is easy. At its core, event management is the process of planning an event. This is any type of event, whether it be in-person, virtual, or hybrid. It’s synonymous with event planning and meeting planning. Just like those other terms, the scope of each project and the nitty-gritty details vary depending on the industry, company size, and more.

A diploma, degree or masters degree from dbs is your springboard to an exciting career in the exciting and fast-moving worlds of marketing, event management, advertising, sales and public relations as well as other fields.

Progression to further studies: this course leads to a level 6 award on the national framework of qualifications. Students who successfully complete this programme may use this level 6 credit towards the qqi advanced major award in management (ref. 6m4587). Assessment: this course is assessed through assignments, a project (which entails developing an event proposal) and a post event evaluation. All work submitted must be your own work. There is no exam with this course. As part of our quality assurance, student assessment work will be marked by an internal assessor, validated by a verifier with an independent qqi external authenticator to complete the process.
